Sour , inherited probably poorly cellared before I received it . It was in my cellar for a year before opening. I decanted 5 hours, but it got worse. Too bad

Medium crimson, darker than expected for a 48 year old bottle. Very elegant texture, almost creamy. Subtle fruit, superbly balanced. Began to fade after an hour. Outstanding accompaniment to steak.

Mucho vino at the 15th annual birthday jeebus. (Joe's.): At this age, it comes down to the bottle and one I had six years ago was stunning. This one, not so much. Shows some mint, lots of earth and leather, but no real fruit to speak of. Dried out and not that pleasant. C+/C.

That '70's show...all '70's all the time: Loire, Spain, Ca, Bordeaux, Port. (Applewood): Wow. That's one captivating nose. It's rich, penetrating complex and as enticing as a Verdi aria. It's a mélange of rich black fruit, a touch of herb, a hint of dark chocolate, a sprinkling of baker's spices all wrapped in a wet black earth blanket. Silky, sweet and complex on the palate. I really dig the softness and elegance of the wine which completely belies the depth it has. The only real flaw is that the wine falls off a bit on the finish. Like flavors as aromas. Really lovely. A/A-.

'70's night at Morton's (Bordeaux) (Morton's NYC): Woody, cedar. High acidity. Bright. Not tired but not fruity either. Bit of menthol, herb, iron. Time to drink these I'd say.
