  • Pours squid-ink dark, nose of berries and brown sugar.

DENSE savory black fruit, licorice and…tar? Salty med+ tannic grip and med acids make for a firm backbone. 13.5% Alc.

Rustic and good with lots of stuffing for the long haul, but you have to look for the pleasure with binoculars at this stage. I’d suggest letting it sleep and integrate until 2028.

High on the savory end of the taste spectrum, this wants a grilled chop or a steak on a cold winters’ night. Old-school NSG is my candidate for the Barolo of Burgundy. (92-94)

  • Everything good about 2015 red burgundy bundled in this wine. Not too sweet, but nice ripe fruit balanced with acidity, spices and cranberry.
Great cranberry and floral nose. Drinking well now and seems to have the structure for a long cellar life.

  • My second bottle of this and this is a little more complicated at this stage. It was a little closed after opening, so I gave it a 2 hour decant. It‘s kind of in between at the moment, with the upfront fruit disappearing and the tertiary notes not coming in yet. I would give this a few more years in bottle, the matière is there, the structure is great, I think this just needs some more time. (94+)

  • I thought this might be the last occasion to check in on the 2015 before they go into hibernation… and looks like it was totally worth it!

Pretty explosive and primary notes of sweet dark red and dark fruit, some chocolatey notes and smoke from the barrique that is not disturbing at all, also brown spices (cinnamon, nutmeg), tangy notes of orange zest, and also some red berries with more air, as well as a dark mineral undertone and a touch of menthol. It's medium-full bodied, with excellent purity of fruit (as always with Chevillon's wines), medium-high acidity providing tension and freshness and medium-high tannin that is super silky… comparable to the best vintages of Les Saint-Georges here. Of course a baby in terms of evolution but I am surprised about how open, radiant and delicious it is. I will put my other bottles away for quite a few years but it was totally worth the test-drive…(94-96)

Day 2: No signs of shutting down, still super aromatic, perfumed and seductive. Beautiful.

  • Light ruby, Chocolatey nose marked by oak. Soft and succulent mouth feel. Very different than the usual Chevillon dominated by bright red fruit, earthy tones and crisp acidity. Hmm, not so sure here. To be revisited in 2025. 92+
