Party at YB's Pine Close. Drank in Grassl 1855. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Thin legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of tobacco leaf, cedar, black plums, black cherries, dark red cherries. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (12.5%), structured resolving high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet bell peppers, cedar, tobacco leaf, black cherries, black plums, licorice, emerging sweet earth. Long finish. Very good quality. Wow our vintages guesses were at lest 10 years off. Still so fresh fruity and structured!

An incredible wine. Nose of red fruit, cherry, raspberry with a lovely chocolate coating. A touch of wet earth, more cocoa, and espresso emerge. Fully integrated in the mouth with moderate acidity, medium tannin, and just perfectly balance fruit. Drink now and enjoy over the next 5+ years.

Great example of a modern styled bdx that has aged well. Retained much of the sweet merlot notes and aging has lifted the density and given secondary tobacco/ leather nuances. Complex (although slightly confusing) tug of war between dense primary fruit and emerging secondary notes. WOTN

Catch Up @ Bruno's!: This predates Gérard Perse’s acquisition in 1997. Black fruits, tobacco, smoke, sandalwood. Balanced, elegant and complex. Nice long minty finish. Enjoyed this a lot tonight. Preferred this to the 1990 opened recently. Open up! 93/94
