  • A private dinner (Restaurant Yerba, Amsterdam, NL): Juicy, supple, slightly sweet, soft and easy, unremarkable.

  • To taste and write about two wines in a span of a couple of days and discover that they're from the same winery tells me that these guys are on the mighty path of flavorful glory. The thing I cling to when it comes to Casa Rojo is the fact that they put massive emphasis on Spain's native grapes and the essence of terroir. Their Cava, made from 100% Macabeo, explodes of what is kindred to the label - minerality, sea salt, lemon juice, cardamon, slurping up that delicious meat directly from the shell while bathing in the sizzling Mediterranean sun. Crisp, light body with the mousse not being as delicate as I expected. A bit of a dispiriting finish which points out that the boys probably went for an easy-sipper, so grab your punches and fruit bowls, we're having a beach partaaaay!
