  • Off the menu at Heilig Geist in Mainz, Germany. Light golden in color. The nose is nice with minerals and slight green apples. Slightly sweet. Green apples carry thru to the palate. Nice finish. Nice wine that might get a bit better.

  • I often find basic feinherb (or halbtrocken) wines a bit soft and flabby, with a sugar coating that robs the wine of its cut and precision (or worse, is designed to cover its flaws). Not so here. There is lovely freshness and minerality on the nose, the palate displays a delightful crisp acidity (9.5 gr/l) which provides a lovely tension with the residual sugar (20.3 gr/l) that emphasises the ripe citrus fruit; youthful bitters from the skins add grip and interest, length is good. For once, I am not certain that I would have preferred this wine to be dry...
