Monday Magnum Madness, with USDA Prime NY strip steaks. Have been drinking Sterling DMR Cab since 1988 vintage, always "grippy" and austere. Distinct olive overtones with little underlying fruit upon opening. 30 min in (magnum) decanter brings out black cherry and cedar as olive notes dissipate. Still grippy (and quite staining!) on the teeth/enamel, but not the expected drying or mouth-puckering effect. A wise cellarmeister choice for pairing with tonight's fattier, more flavorful cut of beef vs. saving this "anniversary year" wine for an inevitable filet mignon fête.

Violet color, nice legs. Green bell pepper city. Some dark cherry, some oak, and capsaicin hell. Don’t think this wine is going to outlive that green.
