Very light both in colour where it is translucent at the edges and in the mouth. It is not watery but just less concentrated than in other vintages. There are good notes of quite developed Northern Rhone; herbes but only very limited amount of meat. Earthy notes and dark fruit are more prominent in this wine which is enjoyable although not great.

Shared generously by a colleague at a recent SD tasting. Garnet color, evolved from iron/blood to meat, BBQ pit, vanilla, and dried dark fruit. Medium finish. Full of character.

Big, big nose. We were prepared to be underwhelmed by this 2002, but it has the same delicious flavors as described for the 2000 and 2003. versions. This was our first experience with and older Hermitage, but we will be back!
Tobacco, smoked meat, red fruit. Good acidity and a long, long finish.

Beautiful dense aromas belie the wet harvest. Red fruit, moist earth, iodine, mushroom are much more prominent on the nose than the palate. The '02 Northern Rhone reds, as well as the Southern whites don't deserve their bad reputation.

Light ruby color. Earthy, old world nose. Hint of sweet fruit up front on taste with drying finish. Pretty nice.
