Deep gold. Nose took a little bit of air to reveal apple, lemon zest, brioche, hazelnuts and a little bit of toasty aromas. Creamy yet crisp on the palate, with great acidity and balance. Long finish.

kɹʌɡ wɪθ dʌɡ (Chicago, IL): Underwhelming tonight, and perhaps this will never really live up to all of the expectations. Certainly the hype was very strong when this was originally released, and I admit I fell for it too, and while I've had some good experiences with this bottle now and again, I think the expectations were originally set too high. This was a bit foursquare, like the 162eme, but with more racy acidity. That said, it wasn't brighter, so it feels like this is in a bit of a weird spot. Perhaps, like the 2008, Krug just... kinda whiffed the vintage?
Out of Magnum and, as predicted, this has only improved. Compared with a year ago, this has opened up and become deeper but hasn't lost an ounce of its energy and brightness. One for the ages.

The master piece of Krug GC's. This base 2008 is much better than the millesime. Fresh, lemon peel, great balance. 20 years ahead. 98

not blind, Magnum
Base 2008. Better than the vintage. It is fresher, leaner, more precise and more charming. I wold change all my 2008 against 164. 99
