February 2020 - peaking right now, this I-4 was quite excellent and outshone other $50+ Orin Swift wines at dinner (unanimous consensus). While it had plenty of fruit, it was a balanced profile between primary and secondary flavors with hints of tertiary leather. It is definitely in the crowd pleasing Phinney style, but that’s not a bad thing for wines made well. I think there is enough tannin in here to last another 3 years and will likely benefit from another year in the bottle. Full bodied, very dark red color.

Definitely likes air. Started full bodied with a bite; smoothed out considerably over several days. Robust fruit and nicely balanced day three. At $10 a bottle we can afford to play; this wine let’s down it’s guard if not forced out of the bottle (or decanter) to quickly. Relax, the wine will join you.

Got this one in a mystery 6er. If it’s $10, that’s probably a pretty square deal.
Opaque reddish purple. A: raspberry liqueur, spice and underbrush. F: raisined red fruits, some spicy oak signature. Couldn’t relate it to any grape and wouldn’t ever guess it’s from Italy, but no one asked me...
