  • Opaque purple with a faint brown tone in an inch pour. Very dry without being harsh or tight. The pour features cranberry, cherry, and plum fruit. Smooth and rounded in the mouth with still firm tannin. Overall, very good now and still drinkable anytime in the next few years.

  • Rapporté d'Espagne dans les valises, ce vin a veilli en beauté et est resté jeune et fougueux. Excellent et tellement équilibré, c'est un grand vin pour un bas prix.

  • (Tasting date approximate) - Holding up well. Very good fruit-acid balance today, and went happily with or without accompanying food. Oak still apparent but now integrated, and doesn't overwhelm the soil or fruit.

  • Aromatically stunning with deep, very ripe, plum and currant flavors accented with hints of smoky grilled herbs, and spiced fruit cake. Soft, polished and primary on the palate with persistent flavors that seem to wrap up the mouth. Showy, but delicious.

  • Tasted 4/13/2005. Decanted for one hour before tasting, and tasted over roughly a three hour time period.

Nowhere near as backwards as two years ago. I have not been a big fan of most of the Spanish wines I have tried (though admittedly not many). However, this was an outstanding wine. I think this is the third bottle I have had over the last two years, and it is far and away the best version. Jill even asked if I had any more of this (alas, I am out unless jb can hook me up again).

Medium body, the nose and palate display blackberries, cherry and minerals. A medium length finish, with the oak much more integrated than prior bottles. Tannins still present, but refined. This is drinking beautifully right now, very smooth and elegant. Almost a Burgundian silkiness to it, highly enjoyable. 91 points.
