Slightly hazy appearance, ruby color. Some sediment in the bottle.
The nose was showing dried cherry, sun-dried tomatoes, ground black pepper, dry soil, dried herbs, cured meat, black olives, stable floor and a smokey/flinty note. Soft and smooth texture with medium(+) acidity and low-ish tannins. Medium intensity of flavors and a decent finish.
A nice, quaffable wine with fun and interesting aromatics and structure enough to pair with lighter foods (antipasti and/or pasta). Nothing to hold on just open and enjoy.

Very obviously unfiltered with its hazy appearance, this wine sits comfortably in the natural camp. Quite wild on the nose with tart forest berries and a sort of untamed overall feel. The palate is very much a mix of Chianti and Trousseau, i.e. earthy and savory with high acidity and almost painful tartness. Completely unadulterated, this is not a sophisticated and well-behaving wine and it does not exist to please you. However a super fun wine to bring to a blind tasting and good with cheeses and charcuterie.

Obviously very unfiltered appearance: not just hazy, but borderline cloudy blackcurrant juice color. Very wild, somewhat volatile and immensely attractive nose with fragrant aromas of pure, unadulterated wild red berry character, some bretty funk, a little bit of sweet dark fruit, light brambly tones of black raspberries and boysenberries, a hint of phenolic spice and a lifted touch of VA. The wine is light-bodied, wild and super-crunchy on the palate with pronounced, almost racy acidity and super-juicy flavors of tart lingonberries, sour cherry bitterness, some sweet maraschino cherry, a little bit of rich balsamic character, a light leathery tones of bretty funk, a hint of barnyard and a touch of lifted nail polish VA. The wine is very focused with good sense of structure, thanks to its high acidity and light yet still gently grippy tannins. The finish is slightly tannic, pretty wild and somewhat robust with flavors of sour cherry bitterness, tart cranberries, some brambly dark berries, a little bit of funky brett character, light Campari character, volatile hints of nail polish and balsamico and a touch of wet dog.
A wonderfully vibrant, crunchy and thoroughly smashable natural wine that shows wonderful complexity of pure and somewhat sappy red fruits and more funkier character. I can imagine for people who enjoy their wines squeaky-clean, this can be pretty unapproachable stuff, but as I am completely fine with modest doses of brett and VA, I'm completely happy with this wine. This is something not unlike a wild Roman cousin of naturalist Cru Beaujolais or some of those Loire fellows like Porte St. Jean or Bernard Baudry. If you like your wines funky yet still pure, fresh and drinkable, this must be up your alley. Probably not built for the long haul, so most likely best consumed now or within a few years. Just lovely.

3/17/2016 - Makani Likes this wine:
Vignoble perché à 400m. Très marqué par le poivre timut (tutti frutti).
Autre spécialité étrange typiquement italienne.
