  • Slow to open up, but came alive after a couple hours.

  • Pop and Pour, initially very tight and a clear step back from the bottle of '16 Pott we have just tasted. After an hour the wine had opened and was as good as the Pott. Pure preference on which bottle one would select. Both are outstanding wines.

  • Drank along with '15 Chappellet Signature. This was a clear winner

  • Get together with some friends. Similar notes as the last bottle. Nice vibrant flavors, solid depth, really smooth, etc.. However, I thought this bottle came across a little richer than the last one - right there with the 2014 Scarlett cab. Nice finish but once again I believe another 6 to 12 months will benefit this vintage to let the fruit open-up/fill-out a little more especially on the back-end.

  • Decided to revisit because I'm considering buying more. Once again, really smooth coupled with solid depth and a nice purity. Vibrant flavors of dark berries, some spice/licorice, and a little mineral/graphite component. Decent finish but not overly long nor deep - once again, I believe this vintage will benefit from another 6 to 12 months to let the fruit hopefully open-up/fill-out a little more especially on the back-end. Decanted for one hour and drank over a couple more. Improved a little with time. Although I haven't had the 2016 vintage yet, no surprise that with Mike's description of the 2016 vintage he states that the vineyard has matured tremendously over the past two years. This vintage is very different from any other vintage that I've had of this wine and the potential to be my favorite of Mike's entry level cabs with a little more time.
