Pristine bottle. Perfect fill, new labels, intact, hard cork, maybe a library release? Dark, young color, but clearly mature both on the nose and the palate. Earth, dark red berries, and sous bois on the nose. On the palate, the wine begins with a wonderful and delicately sweet cherry nectar, which fades into a complex, earthy, savory midpalate. The finish is a bit short and astringent--the only problem with the wine--but this was quite charming and has many years left. I'm glad I have more.

Tasting of 7 1988 Red Burgundy. Showed a brilliant ruby red color in the glass, great fruit on the nose with hints of chocolate, rich, silky mouthful of fruit that is slightly forward, elegant finish and flavors with tannins that suggest 5 years of ageing is needed. My #2 $58.50.

Corked, but it was clearly dead regardless. Disappointing after a surprisingly great bottle of this a few months back.

Retailer tasting; just short notes. (@ vdV): Rustic wine with barnyard, good red and black berry fruits, acidity and tannin. Beautiful wine with a good future.
