White pepper, dark flowers, and lavender on the nose. One of the most floral noses I’ve ever experienced. Also kirsch with air. Damson and kirsch on the palette, more fruit on day 2. Alcohol well hidden. Very nice. It was significantly more balanced between fruit and flowers on day 2, so I would recommend a decant for a few hours.

Terrasse du Diable comes from vines with an average age of 45 years high up on the clay, limestone and volcanic schiste terraces. I pretty much agree with ploher's recent review. Pretty much at the start of its drinking window. 14.5% alcohol is actually relatively modest in the context of Southern Rhone. Serious stuff and worth waiting for.

Powerful build, red fruits, menthol, garrigue; full bodied, but absolutely lovely freshness, savory notes and minerality on the palate. Excellent saturation and very good balance. A bit short and still quite structured. But this is clearly an outstanding vintage of Diable and better than the 2013 or 2014. At the very beginning of its life. 17.5/20

Pop and pour. Med ruby red in glass. Medium nose quote tight. Red fruit driven: red currant, cherry, raspberry, cranberry. Typical GSM mild white pepper spice. Dry, med acidity, med tannins, medium body, med alcohol, medium finish. Basically medium wine. Drink now.
