Coravin’d a glass by Obren at Gucci Osteria. Late release bottling, this was truly a special wine. Deep tawny hue. Quite pronounced oxidative notes, rum raisin, blackened sugar, brown sugar and molasses, nutty and toasted coconut. On the palate it expresses the same notes, just fully tertiary and oxidative. Still showing med+ acid despite the age, along with being just sweet, not luscious. This reminded me of a port without the high alcohol from fortification. Paired really nicely with the cheese tart. Obren says this could go a few more decades without issue and I would be inclined to agree. 94

Dark brown color. Fascinating flavors that recalled a cross between Madeira and old Oloroso sherry. Fresh and lively. Fig, black tea, orange peel, bitter tobacco and a lot more. Wonderful.

What a treat to be able to taste this (blind) and what a fascinating wine. Amber color, the nose is clearly aged with some oxidative notes, but still full of life with notes of figs, ripe prunes, also some tobacco, sweet spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, dried raisins and some molasses. Blind it reminded me of a top-notch aged medium-bodied Oloroso but sweeter than they normally are, with a beautifully high acidity cutting through the sweetness and adding to the lifted and lively overall impression. Very good length. An absolute privilege to taste this unique wine... it was like a delicious lesson in wine history.
