  • tasted blind.
transparent ruby color. Nose intense red cherries, floral; with time, pronounced earthy note. Palate lightly oaky cherry, earthy, silky fruit intensity -- good concentration. Classy overall but does show the ripe solar character of the vintage. 91 pts

  • Drouhin owns five small premier cru vineyards (Noirots, Hauts Doix, Borniques, Plantes, Combottes). They are harvested and vinified together into this bottling. Average age of vines is 32 years. When this bottle was served blind against the rest of the line-up, despite its price point and pedigree against its peers tonight, it stood out as one of the top 3 wines for a few people. Very pungent on the nose with lots of purple fruit, stylish vanilla oak and flowers. Flirtatious on the palate with beautiful ripe purple fruit supported by lots of acidity. Showing beautifully now before it shuts down.

Nydelig 1er Cru.

  • Oh my word, this is just singing on pop n' pour. Clearly infanticide, but this is utterly delicious right now and showing depth. Red cherries, clay and spice for days. A relative bargain in today's Burg market.

  • Similar to prior night, this is really good and the more I think about it the more I might have been stingy. This is enjoyable right now. Would frame it as 91-93
