Ripe nose, lemon yogurt, peaches and cream. Palate is rather heavy, lacking acidity to balance the heaviness and ripe fruit. Creamy lees, butter, yogurt, ripe peach, melon. Needs more acid for the heavy oak and butter notes that dominate the palate.

2nd chance tonight. Clearly while a serious winemaker the wine shows that this is thin and simply not scoreable. It is not bad but just watery and lacking concentration. Less than 85

Had the white label Sonoma Benziger tonight. It was not bad but also not great. Had this prior to a Beringer private reserve Chardonnay. No comparison. Benziger is thin and while pretty good was put in its place by the far better Beringer PR chard. QPR is still much better on the $ 35 Beringer over the $ 12 Benziger. My advice is to serve the Benziger to friends and keep the Beringer for yourself.
