I think this is in a good drinking window, it is fairly aromatically expressive and tannins are mostly resolved. Acidity and remaining tannin give it enough structure. On the palate, the note that seemed dominant was black pepper, which I tend to associate with syrah more than cabernet. 90 pts

In the nose bright cherry, cedar, black pepper, lit menthol cigarette, cola and talc with hints of soy, dry tea leaves and copper. In the mouth plumy sweet cherry fruit, smoked paprika, diner coffee and dried summer herbs leading to a nice, slightly bitter, finish of tart cherry and elderberry. Medium body, nice acid and almost nonexistent tannin.
Straightforward and a bit of a one trick pony but a nice juicy tick at least. Good wine that is dinking as well as it ever will.

I can relate to the prior taster's note about not being very Cab-like, since I think this heads in more of a dried cherry direction than a typical blackberry and cassis profile. But notwithstanding that, I think this is a spectacular wine. Delicious on all fronts and it has a such an honest and pleasant mouthfeel. Mea culpa: I tend to love Sandler pinots and chards anyway so it's no surprise that I find this special. 5+11+17+9= 92

Still quite fresh and youthful, red fruited, aromatic, subtle oak.
