Community Tasting Notes (5) Avg Score: 91.5 points

  • Surprisingly advanced on first sniff. Very different from the last bottle I consumed 2 years ago. Honeyed, ginger. A good deal of oak influence with a generous dollop of vanilla paste and a good deal of ML+ creaminess. Quite a bit fat and flabby. No real acid or structure here to make it go the distance. I'd drink up.

    ABV: 12.5%
    Closure: Natural cork
    Stem: cheap restaurant BDX stem
    Decant: N/A

  • Consistent with previous notes 14 months ago, but an oily, petrol texture is emerging on the late-palate and finish, enhancing the wine’s complexity. In a prime drinking window and should be good through 2024. Technical score: 93. Enjoyment score: 93.

    Private Preserve after Day 1

N: Fairly fragrant melange of lemons & minerals with a creamy/buttery note (though discrete) also definitely present

P: Med body; Very RNDISH entry with nice frt/oak met by a bracing acidity which directs the flow into the LONG, TANGY, firming finish. PERHAPS another yr or so might loosen this, & IF the frt holds, my VG+ (88,89/100 using that paradigm) could be low. // Day 2: Fragrant melange with a P that *seems* friendlier than on Day 1, so another 12-18 mos COULD very well work in this wine's behalf, + I'm thinking it might be BEST suited for Cream Sauce based entrées. (I.e., something HEARTIER than the Grilled Fish we had with it on Day 1.) As of early May '20, wine-searcher still shows 1 source @ $30].

  • Opened and paired with mild spicy Jamaican pulled pork and black beans. Pale gold color. The nose brings honeysuckle, orchard fruit, white flowers, lemon curd, and green apple pie. The palate is medium, round, tangy, and tart, bringing tangerines, pears, mango, kiwi, green apples, candle wax, crushed limestone, chalk, and soda water into a 60-second layered finish of lemons, limes, oranges, and epson salt. This is an incredible value and the best Chard I’ve had this year. Highly recommend. Drink 2020-2024. Technical score: 93. Enjoyment score: 93.

  • The nose showed a stunning and luxurious mix of ripe orchard fruits with sweet yellow floral tones, honey and mineral-infused lime zest. On the palate, I found silky, almost-creamy textures with notes of mango and kiwi, which were lifted by developing minerality as the wine spent time in the glass. It finished medium in length with lingering notes of young peach, pear and wet stone.
