  • PnP. Color is deep garnet. On the nose: Violets, pepper, bit of vanilla and chocolate, cassis and plum. On the palate: Chocolate, violets, plum, iron and spice notes. This is really tasty. I have been cellaring since I got my Ridge ATP shipment way back when. Incredible effort. Stands up well to Rhone Valley originals. I think its peak for drinking but plenty of life left as well. This wine is worth seeking out.

  • The younger vintages of this are some of my favorite Ridge ATP bottles and this overdelivered. At 9 years old, the color hardly shows any visible signs of aging but the aroma and palette have developed a lot compared to the young wines. Dominated by lavender, rosemary and other garrigue, dry mineral, cherries and blackberries, as well as complex notes of balsamic and kirsch. Lots of appeal here for Rhône lovers as others have noted but with a classic California signature.

  • Deep dark color, red/purple rim with no signs of age.
Vibrant nose of ripe black cherries and blackberries, charred rosemary.
Smooth and quite rich, black fruits (ripe plums and black cherries), oak char, bacon fat, some green sap, milk chocolate on the finish.
Great Rhone blend wine in a more American style, tannin and acidity are resolved, with excellent fruit, drink now or over the next few years. A very good buy at $40.

  • Not sure what people here are fussing about. If you spell tannin "tanning," then you should abstain from any comments. What did people pay for this? I spent around $50 with a few years of aging. I would buy a case if it were around. Incredibly well-preserved wine that is a pleasure to drink for old-school Northern Rhone lovers. Classic as Ridge often does.

  • Pop and pour. Perhaps not as interesting as my last bottle, but it got the job done. Lots of red fruit and an interesting brambliness. A nice first effort from Ridge that, thankfully, has improved over successive vintages.
