As pointed out this past June, this is a great Rose if you’re daring enough to try something different from the popular “Provençal” style. Dark color, great flavor, nice balance, and strong finish. I wouldn’t hold this too far into 2020.

Although Garagiste advertised this as a Sangiovese Rose, according to the producer website this is a blend of: “Canaiolo, Malvasia, Ciliegiolo and other not identified autochthonous red grape varieties from the oldest vineyard of the company, no Sangiovese.”
This is the antithesis of the current pale pink (Provençal) style in vogue today; I would characterize this as a “red wine drinker’s” rose. The color is a pale ruby / garnet, similar to the color of cranberry juice. The texture is light bodied, and this drinks like a very light bodied red wine. Aromatics and flavors of red flowers, tart cherry, spicy raspberry, red currant, and juicy, ripe watermelon with an underpinning of wet mulch, and some stony minerals. Medium plus acidity supports a very long satisfying finish. This will work with a wide range of foods, lots of versatility. Very good, if you like this style.

Did not take detailed notes. Quite good with Putanesca sauce and a tossed salad.
