  • Notes of red cherry, raspberry, spices and truffles. Very well balanced - peaking now. Outstanding wine with a long smooth finish. Wow.

  • Raspberries. Dark chocolate. Chai teas and spice. “Sticks” Plenty of red fruit but looking secondary. Fall floral bouquet. Decanted. Pure, lifted, clean. Black truffle. Perfumed and elegant. Bright red cherry. Perfect with Shiitake mushroom. I think this is in about as perfect shape as it can be, and shows a little of the leaner / austere character of 1995, but overall this is an excellent bottle. Still completely clean, lifted, and shows that Rousseau elegance and class, but probably not as glowing, powerful, or jump-from-the-glass expressive as Chambertin or Beze.

  • Opened after a 1990 Beze so in a pretty big shadow, but another excellent bottle. A little more secondary development and a light sauvage / rusticity to this in comparison, but definitely plenty of overlap in terms of elegant red cherry fruit and overall purity. More spice character here too.

  • In a perfect spot to drink today this CSJ served alongside 95 Esmonin blind immediately showed the pedigree of Rousseau. It's such a lovely mid weight almost fully mature red burg, with plenty of red fruit and sap, a touch of honest rusticity and plenty of earth. A wine to sit in an armchair with, in front of a fire place. Now - 2035

  • Drank it at restaurant Jean Imbert au plaza Anthenee.
Nose: Earthy, dried leaves, truffles, mushroom, blueberry, cherries, hints of smoke
Notes: with a strong wet and earthy taste, the Clos Saint Jacques is showing plenty of secondary notes such as dried leaves and truffle/mushroom. Nevertheless I did not find very good balance in this wine. This wine is definitely not too old and I think shall have plenty of life time left in it. After opening for an hour or so the wine is just full of dark fruits and wet earth.
