  • After about an hour decant, this 2008 blend showed well. Black- brick red, and a clear rim, with just a hint that its beginning to show some age. Nose is sage, thyme, blackberry, currant and lychee. The palate brings prunes, black currant, & cola up front. Truffle & olive fill in the middle, finishing with black tea and a ton of cocoa in the back. Tar and charred oak hang out for quite a long finish. This was well balanced with even fruit, tannin and acidity, all still alive after 14 years. We paired with a large charcuterie selection and found it especially pleasing with sweet gherkin pickles.
