I opened this tonight, as some of the 2011 California reds I’ve opened recently are starting to fade from a structural perspective. Thankfully, this is developing nicely and seems slightly improved, since I last enjoyed three years ago. Maturing aromatics and flavors show spicy black pepper, chewy black olive, drying blackberry and some wonderful mineral / savory notes. Smooth and well balanced with fruit, acid, and tannin all in harmony, complexity is clearly showing. Long finish; this paired wonderfully with the grilled jalapeño sausages and peppers and onions. Drink through 2025.

Inky colored w/ light sediment in the bottle. Blueberry, mineral, black pepper, game and meaty on the nose. Palate picks up more cranberry, stone & mineral, while maintaining the black pepper. Medium body & bright texture, with medium length finish. I would guess this wine is drinking near it's peak right now.

After reading the reviews, I was excited about opening this bottle tonight with BBQ ribs ... it was nondescript before the food and the same during ... very disappointed! I aerated and decanted about 2 hours before drinking ... flavor profile was not like a syrah ... tasted almost like a kit wine. I paid way too much for this bottle.

This is drinking really nicely, on day one and two. Lots of complexity Better than I remember.

Last bottle. Still drinking nicely on a short decant, maybe starting to thin out a bit. Top-ticked this like Tesla stock.
