  • Not ideal circumstances for a proper tasting. This was the best showing for this vintage, as it has finally reached peak. Will likely hold for 3-4 years. Good balance, freshness and no perceivable alcohol despite the 14.5 percent alcohol. Really very good. 90

  • Retail $60. 44% Grenache, 37% Syrah, 14% Mourvèdre, 5% Cinsault. I believe this is my first time trying the 2015 as I can't seem to find any notes on it. Medium color but a bit dark on the nose with dark berry fruit and plum along with a veritable spice rack as well: cardamom, black pepper, and maybe even some anise. The palate is surprisingly fresh with a lovely balance between juicy fruit and a balancing tartness. I am a big fan of la Nerthe and this 2015, nearly a decade out, is doing quite well. Fantastic.

  • Seemed over the hill and slightly oxidized. Olives and plums. Medium depth. Not my style and seemed to have some funk on the nose and palate.

  • Wondering if this is closed down. Very dark in colour. Pretty muted nose, wasn't getting any real distinguished perfumes. Cherry and black currant on the palate. Pretty soft tannins, medium acidity, medium body. Lacks a bit or power, weight and general pizazza. But feels like it has more to give. Will wait another 5 years to try again.

  • Good and solid but not great right now. Just entering a proper drinking window with more improvement anticipated over the next 5-7 years followed by at least a decade at a high level. Much more of a hold then a drink right now - we ordered it at a restaurant and were able to do a short table side decant but right now at home I would decant this for at least 2 hours if I chose to pull one at home. Strong fruit forward nose with some interesting anise and black pepper. Very dark purple, integrating but still quite tannic with a very solid core, good structure and long aftertaste. Initially oak, dark plum and blueberry and on the mid-late palate I completely agree with the touch of anise that was mentioned in a previous tasting note and also floral and coffee notes come through. Right now a decent but not great QPR although the QPR evaluation will change as the wine matures and evolves further and I do recommend with currently a hold caveat.
