  • NO. Maybe this is ignorance on my part, I am not sure if this wine is meant to taste like this; all I know if that when I had oldish Corton before it was not like this. I would say there is a bit too much oxidation here; colour was the wrong side of golden (if you get my drift). Initial taste, had acidity but a appley-toastiness that was not really attractive. After a few minutes, this faded away a bit and more chardonnay notes came through. Quite full bodied. Seemed better after a while but I could not buy this as the prices normally charged (100-200 euro). If this is how it really should taste then I don't get it or, indeed, want to get it. Though it may be because this was past it prime.

Burgundy-Report

(Clair Bruno Corton-Charlemagne) Compared to Bruno's Marsannay the colour seems okay, a pale gold colour. The nose has lots of depth, a little more oak than is necessary, but the fruit has a creamy edge. With time the oak fades and the pineapple fruit comes more to the fore, a little caramel too. The fruit is concentrated, even intense. Good length, even a coconut element which makes for added interest. A very good wine then, though not quite to the level of Bonneau du Martray's. Will obviously continue to improve.
