  • Drunk too quickly, and within a couple of hours, thanks to company! It was vibrant and elegant and subtly, gradually, evolving in the glass. I wish I could track its evolution beyond that time window.

  • Pretty floral nose, fragrant. Lovely light, bright fruit, strawberries, cranberries, some earthy notes. Fine tannins, nice acidity, great balance. Picks up weight on the mid-palate. Finishes with nice length and dark fruits. Should improve for another 3 to 5 years. Only 12.5% ABV.

  • Opened and let breathe in the bottle for an hour. Drank over the next 3. Wine purchased upon release and this is the first bottle opened. It is darn good. Raspberry, cherry and cocoa on the palate. Good acidity to keep it in balance. This should further improve over the next couple of years.

  • I first tasted this two years ago and wasn't impressed by it (despite my overall love for Kelley Fox's wines). That has certainly changed. Translucent cherry red in color. The first sniff showed how much it has developed. An exhilarating nose of raspberries and cherries. The palate continues that theme with raspberries and chocolate. Firm tannins, bracing acidity, fabulous balance. The midpalate adds dark cherry notes with the raspberry from the front of the palate. A long, sweet finish of raspberries and strawberry.

  • Wine One in a blind flight of eight Pinot Noirs. This ranked near the top of the pack by preference, style, and quality. Momtazi terroir might (understandably) be off-putting to some, but I find it exceptional, as well as the wine's poise, balance, and persistence. A wine of the earth, in all the best ways.
