ACYSO's note is very accurate. I would add there's a healthy dose of raisin. We felt like the acid was sufficient, though definitely not as high as Madeira. We drank the bottle over 10 days and it was just as good on day 10 as day 1. Drink or hold.

Vinetasters: Clos Vougeot (Skokie, IL): Tons of rancio -- orange peel, nuts, brown sugar, and a nice bit of salinity too. The palate is fairly complex, with a lovely sweetness that reminds me of madeira, but then you sort of realize that the attendant acidity is sort of missing. Still, there is plenty of complexity and plenty to love here.
