Visiting London, Galway, Dublin and Paris; 9/14/2019-9/29/2019 (England, Ireland and France): Pillot's 2015 Volnay is a seductively aromatic Pinot that is effusive of red plums, cherries, violets, baking spices and orange zest. Medium-bodied, freshly acidic, judiciously oaked and with well-woven alcohol (listed as 13.5%), it delivers flavors mirroring the nose. The middle palate is layered, which is where the tannins exert their influence. Closing with a medium-to-long finish that carries some grip, this is a quality offering that will be even better with another year or two in the cellar. Drink 2021-2027.

Not what I would expect from a Volnay, little fruit, high acidity. thin.

A better bottle than the one one I had last year. This one was more open, with ripe red cherries and chalky flavors. Decent for the price.

This bottle was quite lean, austere and angular. Maybe the wine has closed down and needs time to come out of its shell.
