  • Always a pleasure to drink. Charming chambolle like but it is fading with shorter finish now. Drink up.

  • Really delicious bottle that had all the bells and whistles of a grand cru Côte d'Or burg. Nicely matured earthy truffles , macerated cherries with stewed haw fruit and nicely rounded strawberries. Great display of peacock tail of fruits yet providing depth with touch of Vosne spice and gevrey roots.

  • World-Cup Wines: Brazil vs Chile (Ming and Marlene's): This was a truly excellent Bourgogne. To be fair, it was probably not priced as an everyday Bourgogne, but it stood toe-to-toe with a decent, if not quite great Clos de la Roche that was served alongside and came out fighting. This really had a deep nose on it, with fragrant wafts of cherries against a little background of earth and a sprinkle of spice. I thought it was Morey with a nose like that. It was on the palate that the wine really showed its strength though. This had a clean, elegant feel to it that I really liked, but no lack of depth either. Again, there lots of spice mingling with its plump, juicy cherries and darker berry flavours, all packed together with fresh, open-knit acidity and some tannins that were beginning to stretch out into a velvety feel. I really like the way this was shaped in the mouth, with just that little touch of grip at the finish, where the sweet fruit was underlined by a touch of bittersweet herb. open knit, fresh feel, with sweet fruit underlined by a touch of bittersweet herb. Good stuff, at a great place for drinking now.

  • Stewed medicinal roots and flowers with Hawthorne flakes and sappy cherries strawberries. A little of that preserved vegetable note that I find in prieure roch wines as well. The development and nuances do show Côte d'Or characteristics and almost a chambolle gevrey styled wine. Lovely style.

(de Villaine A&P Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise La Digoine) Light ruby with definite hints of maturity - looks quite 'fragile' in the glass. The nose is relatively muted with strawberries and raspberries pushing through the undergrowth. The palate is a lovely thick and sweet thing with red berry fruits dominating. Perfect acidity and almost resolved tannin. This wine is only spoiled by a slight bitterness to the palate. Starting to drink nicely now, hopefully the bitterness will diminish, though to be fair it's much less obvious with food.
