Hajdu, Counoise, Eaglepoint Ranch, Mendocino, 2014: Part of the Adventurer's Guild wine club. An unusual variety, this is also the first time I taste a Counoise, kosher or not. Deep cherry red in color. On the nose, ripe cherries, dried strawberries as well as hints of clove. Medium-bodied, with a supple yet not overly extracted texture. Notes of cherry compote and tart blackberries abund on the palate as well as touches of red chili pepper, nutmeg and cloves with medium-plus acidity and soft tannins that linger with more tart red berry fruit on the moderately long finish. It would be interesting to retaste this wine in 3 years. Drink now-2020. 14.5% Abv. 88

This Counoise is awesome - soft barely there tannin. Medium + acidity. Cloves and plum with a peppery finish. Really well done. Went really well with my steak. Wish I had a LOT more! This wine is NOT meant for the long haul IMHO. Nor did it need decanting. Drink now through 2019.
