Hold this if you have it as it’s still quite youthful. Cassis, eucalyptus, minerals on the nose with a similar palate. Delicious but just taking off. This wine will fly, it will fight and it will crow! BANGARANG!

This has some grip and freshness to go with tobacco, red fruits, herb. It is not a plush fruit bomb that is so much Napa valley but with the age this also not the super fresh wine that is Matthiasson’s calling card. But this has found a nice middle position. I doubt this will improve with age but balanced and don’t anticipate a cliff out there

Not sure if it's the vintage or some age on it but didn't love as much as we usually do. Still very good but I always think the Matthiasson wines are so fresh and juicy and this came across as drier with some herbs and darker fruit. Still good but didn't have the freshness we love.

Deep ruby color. Nose of blackberry, black cherry, menthol, touch of herbs. Similar flavors on the palate with an herbal cough drop type flavor on the finish. Medium+ acid, medium tannin and body. Drank alongside a 2013 Rafanelli cabernet and while the Matthiasson was good and perhaps a bit more classic in style, it didn't necessarily scream cabernet to me and was missing a little something, especially compared to a 2013 vintage bottle I had recently. Still a very well made wine but this vintage is not memorable.

Better than the 2013 which was all hollowed out.

Good stuff happening here but the downsides are: a little thin, hollow middle and slightly astringent
