  • nose of pomegranate, raspberry, and cherry. on the palate there's cherry and some earthiness. unfortunately, the finish falls out on this wine and it just seems out of balance. something's not right here............

  • love this winery but somehow these 2015 bottles seemed to have missed the mark. in a nutshell the wine seems to be a little herbaceous or green on the finish. agree with other reviewer who thinks grapes may have been picked too early (which hardly ever happens anymore). or maybe there was some whole cluster in this and that accounts for the finish. either way, this was a bit of a disappointment compared to other 2015's.

  • medium garnet in color with beautiful red fruit on the nose. clean crisp palate of raspberry and strawberry, and baking spice. clearly not over-ripe. in fact, there is ample acidity and tannins here to allow this wine to age for some time. will try the next bottle in 4 years or so. the nose continued to develop as the wine opened. will be interesting to see where this wine winds up in a few years. Burgundian in style

  • Shane's 6th Annual Game Dinner - Game & Truffle (Chateau Lea, New Jersey): Brought by a friend and attendee at the 6th Annual Game Dinner to compare to some tastes of the 2018 Composition Pinot which is sourced from my grapes from this estate. I can’t seem to find my detailed notes but this was nicely balanced and bright with acidity as well as red berry fruit and hints of minerals. Very easy drinking and texturally somewhat similar though not as rich as the Composition. This is a gem of a wine from an under the radar small family winery that is sure to get more well known as the De Villaine family connection becomes more public knowledge.

  • similar to my last bottle. opens with a nose of cherry, pomegranite, black tea and earth. on the palate the wine is nicely balanced with modest tannins and pleasant acidity. you get some cherry, raspberry, and maybe some blueberry. overall, it's a lovely fruit profile paired with a modest structure that renders this a very drinkable wine today and for the next few years. the wine has a nice mouthfeel to it and drinks like wines that cost twice as much. produced by a hardworking and super friendly family. how can you not like this wine...............
