1/27/09 Very fragrant nose of dark berries, in the forest. Pungent blueberry, blackberry, with some Syrah red pepper spice. As it opens up, it gets a little but of chocolate. Day 2: Still with lots of blueberry and chocolate. Day 3 is the best. The Cabernet is shining thru, and the Syrah is meddling in the background (the way I like it). Lots of cassis on the nose and palate. I wish I had more of this to lay down. 89

We picked this up on clearance for $6 and for that price it is an insane value. Great weight and a long finish. Good tannic structure that could probably age a bit. Slightly green perhaps, but a very good wine even for the regular $11 price tag.

Poured at a retailer tasting. Aromas of mint, red fruit and evergreen, with a slightly meaty undertone. Soft, approachable tannins, with flavors of sweet red fruit and mint.

Drank with JD last night over burgers and fries. Simple, straightforward juicy Cab/Syrah blend. Nothing fancy but very well balanced, with solid structure. JD said that in contrast to the usual "challenging" wines I've been bringing home, this was good, easy drinking. Good QPR.

Needed a lot of time to breathe. Slightly complex. Limited finish. Good value ($11).
