Gave this an hour of air. Dried fruit, molasses, brown sugar. Good for what it was, and clearly a well made wine. Reminded me a bit of a young Materium.

The wife and I disagreed on this wine. She picked up lots of dark fruits, black cherry, blueberries, etc… she really enjoyed the wine. I picked up a really harsh flavor profile, no fruit flavors at all. No rating from me on this one. Hopefully, the next bottle is better for me.

Decanted and consumed over a few hours. This has a big nose, purple fruited, with baking spices, dark licorice, warm cocoa. Medium in body with concentrated, saturated dark berries. Solid, but didn't quite move me as much as the last bottle of this that I had about a year ago.

Very rich and extracted. Delicious out of the gate, continued to improve until it was all consumed. Ripe, but well balanced even integrated new world Cab, a bit restrained. Bought on WBD and needed to taste for myself. I do not have an opinion if it will improve with more cellar time.

At Morton’s with some incredible steaks. This was hitting on all cylinders. Had a soft and elegant layer to it but on the backend had a lingering tang or spice to it that made you want to go back to it. Nose was a bit muted and it had a soft red fruit profile that had roundness and depth to it. I got more red fruit on this vs the black fruit on the Carter. We had an 09 Carter which is also a Mike Smith wine and both were exceptional bottles. I had this a notch above because of the finish. Terrific bottle overall and glad I still have another.
