  • 5 hrs in the decanter. Wow. Deep purple with no browning on the edges. Nose is big. BIG. Blueberry chocolate shake. Very rounded; no hard edges. Tannins barely perceptible. Acid present but giving ground to the fruit. Velvety and long in the mouth. Barely held its own paired with beef stew. But held. I love this but, as usual, my last bottle.

  • Was going to do a double decant right back into the bottle but there was so much sediment I had to rinse the bottle and let it dry before refilling.
Not as compelling as I expected but still most enjoyable. This had an interesting charred/toasty essence to it. Chocolate notes were appealing.
A bit thin initially but over time gained weight and was more plush.
Feels like it should be drunk sooner rather than later.

  • This is my favorite American Merlot. So much spice, complexity, and richness. Hard to pair. Every time, I prefer it on its own to accompanied with food.

  • I'm a big fan of this wine, which came out of the blocks sprinting upon opening. At first pour, I thought 95 based on big, luscious Merlot flavor. With time, it thinned rather than blossomed, hence the reduction by a point. We were outdoors on a windy night, and it might have performed better under different settings.

  • Decanted 2 hours. Drank over 2 hours with steak. After the decant, the nose was very obviously alcoholic and prunes. Rich nose of black fruit, tar, vanilla. Conflicted as to whether I liked it because the alcohol was overwhelming. Probably closer to 90 pts. Over the next 2 hours the alcohol eventually blew off. Now down to the last half glass and it is much more enjoyable. Black fruit. Menthol, licorice. Goodly amount of tannin and acid. Very enjoyable now. In hindsight should have decanted 4 hours.
