Nice dark ruby color and slightly closed nose with more earth than fruit to the extent it was offering up much at all. Lean and slightly hard-textured on the palate, again just not giving up much more than earthy and green-tinged berry. There's plenty of tannic and acid structure, but absent much fruit and with such a lean mid-palate and short finish I'm not sure there's a lot of upside to holding the last two bottles very much longer. It's an ok bottle, nothing special.

Scott Paul for early 2000 Burgs, Eyrie, and Vista Hills: Very light nose... only light floral notes. Some bright red fruits are hidden as well. The palate is nice and mild, some tart fruit, and is very drying. The finish is funky, and really really dry. Definitely a young one, but really enjoyable to drink, despite its lack of complexity.

Still very tannic. There is enough fruit to let it go another year or 2 in hopes it comes around.
