Brick red colour with a mature nose showing hints of burnt wood, mint, leather and soil. Palate shows lots of maturity with leather, red fruit and with smooth tannins. Not as good as the last bottle a couple of weeks ago, but still very nice.

Mature nose showing leather, cedar and violets. Soft tannins and a mature palate filled with fruit and a nice lenghty finish. This is showing very well right now and was a perfect match with grilled entrécôte.

Chateau de Lamarque 1988: This was a great surprise. Opulent, complex, layered with cigar box, raw leather, bell pepper spices, sweet figs, paint, earth and some oxidative notes. Concentrated palate and ripe, silky tannins. It has gone through some great changes over the years and I think is on the verge of its peak now.

Semi transparent garnet, showing a little rust color at edges. Somewhat closed with not much of a bouquet even after one hour decant. Medium body, smooth on entry with well-integrated tannins, a little creaminess, hint of sandalwood, then very dry with good mouth coating acidity. Mild lingering aftertaste of spent grapes. This is a food wine. Went very well with prime rib. This wine felt a little past peak and probably would last another year or two at best with the loss of fruitiness.

Brilliant dark ruby-red leading to a pink rim. A bit of barnyard on the nose, with cassis and floral aromas. Medium-bodied with smoke, plum, and cherry on the palate.
