  • This was the first wine of our tasting at the winery back in autumn 2016 and instantly a positive surprise.

It has to be said that Ansgar Clüsserath has a truly distinct style entertaining over and above cleanliness, fruitiness and a natural feel a kind of playful fragility which makes their better wines hard to resist. Their in fact dry Spätlese called Steinreich is a great example where they combine all this with some masterful minerality.

But it's there in this base wine as well. So this pinot blanc is a lot of fun, obviously not as acidic as a riesling, but a natural, charming wine that does not give up one milligram of its dignity.

One slight point of ciritque at the moment though is that in the back parts of the mouth it becomes a bit watery, but that doesn't change the fact that I can recommend this wine for the price of a bit under 10 EUR especially as I suspect it satisfies wine novices and nerds alike.

Update: day 2. Even better, 87-88p, this is a terrific wine, great stuff.
