I have to admit when we picked this shipment up, I thought it was pretty gimmicky. I am also not a big fan of the Durant vineyard compared to many others in Dundee. However, popped and poured and after about 20 minutes, this was tasting very very good. I went back and checked the bottle to make sure I hadn’t opened the wrong one. I don’t know much about Russian oak but the 3 of us were all impressed with how this one is tasting right now

Part of the WR Explorer's Club where we were looking at a wine aged in barrels from different countries. The Russian one was by far the harshest. Herbal, but in a more offputting way. One of our friends got dill. I got some smelly feet (not in the good way). Perhaps the reaction is because we rarely drink wine aged in these and are not used to it, but my impression is this is why they don't age wine in russian oak.
