  • Deep dark crimson with narrow mahogany rim. Quite powerful and slightly rustic baby brunello bouquet. Developed with tobacco and spice to the fore. Medium-full bodied with a simple and developed palate reflectig the bouquet with a touch of additional stemminess. The merlot content makes itself known with a rounding effect on the sangiovese. Sadly this is quickly overtaken by the very firm and slightly coarse tannic structure which stitches the mouth early in the piece and stops the wine developing on the palate, until it runs out of fruit. Tasty nonetheless, but a little too rustic for its own good. Drink now despite the tannin as there is insufficient fruit for this to run further First bottle illustrated this with an oxidative component developing shortly after opening.

  • 80% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot. Ruby red with violet tinges to a pink rim. Aromas of cherries, dried flowers, small wild red berries, and orange rind. Medium-full bodied with sliced red plums, earth, blackcurrant, and herbs. Nice finish, ~30-35s, with violets, and currant.
