Community Tasting Notes (4) Avg Score: 87.5 points

  • Pale/medium mahogany core, pale mahogany rim. Autumnal nose, undergrowth, some liquorice, soil and even hazelnut, vestiges of red cherry fruit. Complex and interesting. Medium bodied on the palate, gentle autumnal fruit, notes of liquorice again, nice fresh acidity and good complexity but a little ungenerous perhaps with some firm tannin showing, particularly on the medium/good length finish. Probably time to drink this one up.

  • Fragrant, slightly smoky, sweet red cherry fruit, licorice, notes of soil. Medium/full bodied on the palate, lots of sweet red cherry fruit on the initial attack, some creamy vanilla and licorice, good depth for a village wine, moderate, fine and fully integrated tannins, fresh, tangy acidity carries a good length finish with just a hint of autumnal undergrowth beginning to emerge. A rich, satisfying village Gevrey with plenty in hand. Leave last bottle 2-3 years.

  • No formal note, and opened quite late in the evening but recall an attractive, open red fruited Gevry with hints of licorice and earth, fresh acidity, decent depth and good length finish. Drinking well but absolutely no hurry.

  • A little thin and tart when opened but developed a decent, quite maturish earthy flavour with sour cherries to the fore. Lacking a little in gevrey character and fragrance.
