Rich, concentrated and high alcohol (15.1%). Now pretty evolved. Some air time is needed to get full balance and bring out all the flavours. There’s coffee, balsamic, licorice, baking spice, dried fruit, raisin, glacé cherry and blackberry.

Last of six I think. Amazingly youthful appearance and perfume. Cassis and mint, a bit of washed wool. No signs of tiring on the palate but not much development in the glass or real excitement. Impressive nonetheless for a Malbec of this age and nice to have the chance to drink it.

Consistent brick red, but not fading at the rim. No sediment. My last bottle. Still mellow and smooth. Fruit leads and dominates. Signs of its maturity in the forest floor flavours. Slightly dry in the mouth as you swallow, but the finish is all fruit. Lingers well. Delicious. Unusually subtle, and good value.

Unctuous red to dark fruit with a real depth. Somewhat stewy fruit with liquorice, a certain savouriness and balancing acidity. Palate is lively with lots of length. Seems much younger than one would expect for a wine nearly 30 years old. Delicious.

This was a very pleasant surprise! Fully mature and a generous style of wine, now still full bodied and plenty of mellow black fruits, along with a good dose of tertiary leather and cedar wood. Long finish, with complexity. Drinking perfectly now and will endure for 5 to 10 years.
