  • Slight whiff of cork, I think. Not showing anywhere near what it should. I have another bottle so we'll see.

  • An excellent, earthy wine with dark berry flavors and a bit of peppery spice. I'm a fan of the Van Duzer estate pinot, but this one seemed more substantial and complex. A winner in my book!

  • This wine was much better the the first bottle I drank around December of 2006. The nose was very dark and dense, great smell. The fruit was dark rasberry and other dark red and black berrys. Still fairly aciidic and the tannins have smoothed out. Greater balance than before. Finish was medium in length. Still recommend about a half hour of decanting. This wine deserves more credit than it gets.

  • For some reason, W.S. doesn't much like Van Duzer wines. I say good...that leaves more for me. I've read reviews that brought up concerns of bret with this vintage. I've now had 4 bottles, and can't say the same. Had this bottle over Thanksgiving with my brother, along with a Benton Lane and Au Bon Climat (not to mention a 2001 Brunello). This wine was far and away the star. Dense cherry, raspberry fruit, cinnamon, complex earthiness, well balanced with crisp acidity, and fine young tannins providing nice structure for a pinot. Long lingering finish. Complex and should improve with time. W.S. missed bad on this one. A definite A- at $35.
