An interesting contrast to the 2009 Kutch Savoy Vineyard I drank two days prior (91 pts). Not just the decade difference but the color, nose, construction and flavor. I actually tried the PNX wine in 2001 at the winery and it was a flavorful delight. Today it retains its dense burgundy color and has a nice, if muted, nose of minty dark berries. On the palate the 10 year old wine does not fade but also does not sing. Blackberries and currants emanate with a medium mouthfeel (neither thin nor showing great breadth). These wine should have been consumed young but it has held together better than you might think. The 99 PNX retains a great depth of flavor but lacks the punch and shine of younger peers. Still an enjoyable wine.

An excellent pinot noir. Lovely fruit, not too much oak, good duration, full on the palate. Wine Spectator gave this something like an 86, but I think it’s better than that. We were all very pleased.
