  • Dark color, 14% abv, started slowly, tannic, earthy, fruit slowly emerged, medium to full bodied but never tastes heavy, good balance, nice sipping, drank with prime rib, potatoes and bok choy, bought this wine in St Emilion so I am biased but we love this wine, the 2016 is actually one of the lower alcohol Thunevin wines, will drink again.

  • Great bouquet, dark color, good fruit, a bit hollow in the mid palate but long finish, drank with tuna with cous cous, lots of sediment in last glass, I like this wine lots, I think it will develop more but it is very good now, a distinctive style that has more finesse and restraint than some other St Emilion wines, will drink again.

  • Wonderful bouquet that kept on coming, tannin, fruit and acid in perfect harmony, complex flavors, medium to full bodied, 14% abv, the merlot has so much character, great sipping, drank with NJ strip steak and baked potato, keeping it simple, lots of sediment at the end of bottle, drinking great now but has room to improve, I‘m slightly biased as I bought the wine in St Emilion, will drink again.

  • Drank with Denner Gold Digger, another Bordeaux blend, Clos Badon was more tannic and earthy, good fruit but totally different from the Denner,(see my note on the 2019 Denner), still young but quite enjoyable now, drank with magret of duck, duck confit and baked oysters, a good value as I bought it from the winery, will drink again, it is fascinating how different Merlot can be,if critics call this wine rich not sure there are words to describe the Denner.

  • Tasted at Thunevin shop in St Emilion, good fruit, great blend, original Valandraud property, smooth tannins, will drink again as I bought a few bottles.
