S&E Napa Extravaganza (at Home): Tannins with significant acidity in the finish. Not fully integrated (rounded for me) for me. Maybe a longer decant? Maybe this is more of a food wine?
92-
A hint of guava fruit on the nose.

This is OK. Overall impression is restrained, quite lean wine, though the fruit has reasonable ripeness and extraction, just not enough t cover the bones of the structure. Classic blackcurrant and cassis notes. Medium plus weight. Hefty structure. Medium plus length, straightforward. Needs another 5 years, will last a long time but not improve beyond that.

Virtual tasting with proprietor Jim Bean. Black currant and blueberry fruit, licorice and other sweet spices, fresh green herbs, black coffee and mocha. Muscular and more fruit forward, but that came at the detriment of elegance. Still a bit wild hence best to cellar for another 3-5 years. On a par with the 2016 for me, although quite different in terms of expression and clearly a matter of taste which one you prefer.

I found this to be a bit soft at the beginning, lacking a punch of acidity, although it did seem to round out further into the bottle.

Braxton Cellars Cellar Raid (Libertyville, IL): Very ripe and huge fruit. Cocoa nibs and lots of spice. So dense and so much fruit but still enjoyable.
