2 weeks ago I had a 2004 vintage and I liked it 93 points. How about this younger family member. 3 hours in the decanter 🕙⏰🕐 Well, wine like this makes me realize that I don't know much about wine. Powerful complicated, complex. Judging by aromas I would say it was Right Bank CS. But this is 78%M, 18% CF and just 8% CS! But sweet aromas of black cherry, plum, and blackberry are dominant here. Smoke, tobacco, earth, spice, cassis, vanilla and who knows what else...red cherry for sure. Taste? Very juicy and fruity Again - black fruits, minerals, black chocolate and who knows what else. I lost it, but it's delicious with an incredibly long finish - not too sweet, not too dry. Balance, balance, balance. 2016 vintage in St.Emilien got 96 points according to the WA Vintage Guide. Extraordinary! Wine? JD - 95 JS - 94 Jeff Leve - 95/94( tasted twice) RP - 93 CT - 93 Vinous - 93 Jean - Marc Quarin - 93 Decanter - 92 WS - 92 WE - 92
First bottle was TCA, second bottle was in good form if a bit young. Balanced, fresh, deep. It was well received and shows solid promise for the decade ahead. Three hours aeration in wide-bottom decanter. ~ 4oz on day two was a half step better. A little citrus component atop the dark berries and soil added a nice touch. For the $50 paid and how tasty it is, it's highly recommended

Didn't blow my mind. A tad boring in fact. Blue berries, black berries with some kirsch on the nose. The nose was pleasant but not very complex. Palate was tired and finish was short. Way too expensive for what I paid ($75). Will not be buying again.
First bottle from a futures purchase. Glad I waited. After 3 hour decant, opened up with concentrated dark fruits - rich merlot profile, but not overripe. Youthful tension and structure with fine tannins. Brilliant with the fillet mignon we had. Excellent first showing. Look forward to following its evolution.

My third bottle of vintage 2016 and it stills shows its best side. The Merlot fruit really shines, plum, blackberry, led pencil, mineraly notes, almost bombastic, but really backed up by tannins and acidity, wonderfully balanced., The alcohol is no longer an issue, which after about 1.5 hours in the decanter is not fully integrated. But this wine is certainly still young and will be even better in 5 years.
