Deep, smooth wine dark fruit compote, tannins perfectly integrated at this age. It was left open for some time before the first glass, but did not seem to need decanting. Warm and round on the palate with excellent persistence. There are more complex wines, but really a very good example of what a Ribera del Duero Reserva can be.

Quality and value exceeded expectations with this reserve Tempranillo. Great on its own, but actually paired very well with BLTs if you believe that!! Decanted for 30 minutes before first pour, but the second glass was better. A solid structure, but the tannins were nicely integrated. I would think it will hold well for another 3-5 years. Spanish wines are still firing on all cylinders in my book.

Tasting 5/5/2019. Not as taken with this wine the 2nd time around as I was the 1st, perhaps because my wife and I both detected a slight, off, vegetal sharpness in the nose. Others in our tasting group liked it a lot, tho.
Initial tasting: Intense blackberry color. Nose dominated by new French oak — website indicates 20 months <http://www.comenge.com/es/don-miguel-comenge-2011>. Fruit is sequestered underneath. 90% Tempranillo & 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Alcohol 15%, which is apparent, yet acidity and fruit are high enough to tame it a bit. Some, but not overwhelming, tannins. Very much in the modern style and, given all its current disjointed elements, needs time to develop.

Really well-rounded wine! Even bouquet and balanced on the palate. Age seemed to be perfect
