  • This was smooth. The fruit was integrated. I picked up a slight bit of bitterness, not huge, but just a slight hint. Otherwise, this is a spectacular wine. Paired great with Prime Rib, Beet Greens, Mashers, and Mushrooms at the Ken Garff University Club with friends. I like the depth on this wine. I like the fruit. I like the smooth integration. Just picked up a subtle hint of slightly bitter fruit, which I did not taste in the last bottle. Still, a great wine!!

  • Kleur: Diep ondoordringbaar donkerrood.

Colour: Deep impenetrable dark red. Aroma / bouquet: Pleasantly expressive but less 'explosive dusty' than (especially Syrah-dominated) SQN can sometimes be. Dark fruit, a subtle wood tone. The fruit mainly presents itself as softly sweet wild strawberries, blackberries and figs. Further impressions of softly sweet licorice, gingerbread and a hint of pepper. Taste / Aftertaste: Mouth-filling, thick-juicy wine, aromatically less explosive than I am used to, but certainly no less pleasant or impressive. In the mouth impressions of strawberry compote, dried plums, ginger and softly sweet gingerbread. Long aftertaste. The tannins are also more pronounced and firm than I am used to from SQN, which actually contributes to harmony in this wine. Impressively long finish. General / potential: A somewhat atypical SQN for me, less explosive, less robust. But incredibly tasty!!!! 50 + Colour: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 14 + Taste / Aftertaste: 19 + General / potential: 10 = 98/100

  • Drank with somewhat challenging charcuterie. Terrific by itself, with food and after. Deep and dark fruits, complex, young yet very well integrated hitting all of the high notes.

  • Nose is explosive. Vanilla, clove, dark dark blackberry and white pepper. Still plenty of tannic structure. Dried herbs and chocolate. Clearly Rhône but not over the top funky and meaty. Love it. Floored. Currant liquor. Flirting with perfection

Now-2040+? Will benefit from additional cellar time.

  • This is a work of art. A beautiful nose. A rich palate. A loooonnnngggg finish. Beautiful fruit. Perfect in its drinkability window. Drunk with our great friends tonight. Paired great with homemade rotisserie duck, crab legs, lobster, mushroom risotto, and a fresh salad with dressing made by some great friends. This is a work of art. This is why we drink great wines. It literally evaporates effortlessly in your mouth and then lingers for a long, long time. Cheers!! The holidays are best spent with friends. Tonight is an epic night with our friends, our kids and their friends. Discovered tonight that my daughter is a TicTok star. Who knew? Wine brings out all the secrets.
